Material Examination

We can provide the service of examining components, hardness, strength, and microstructures of materials. Analyzing such data to report an overall view of specimen material properties with reference to possible causes of fracture, corrosion and the inclusion of foreign materials.

The following are various methods for material examination. We are flexible to customer indivisual requirements.

SEM(Scanning ElectronMicroscope) Observation

In this observation, fracture mode (fatigue, brittle or ductile fracture) on the fractured surface is identified. Installed EDX device analyzes the fractured surface and crack initiation site to inentify the possible cause of the fracture. Also, it is effective for element analysis for micro partials.

Optical Microscope Observation

This provides stereoscopic observation and is effective to identify the crack growth orientation and crack initiation site. Also it provides accurate information by enlarging the sample images, displaying micro crack or surface conditions which are hard to visually identify.

Metallographic Observation

This provides effective information to identify the cause of crack or corrosion by observing its condition and microstructures as well as to detect any abnormalities in microstructures, grain size, and inclusions.

Residual Stress Measurement

Residual stress caused during machining or use is measured by X-ray. This helps to identify the cause of crack or deformation of items by measuring the amount of residual stress in either tension or compression.
